.2-.3 100 yard cold bore challenge

Shot 6 on this one because I forgot to take that first shot of the day on the cold bore.

I fear my groups will suffer from here on out. My neighbor is trying to burn the barrel out of an AR-10...concussion from his shots are making the gun move...

Also forgot...these targets are being shot with the Magnetospeed in place...

Had a cease fire and took this pic, but I liked the numbers on this powder charge so I fired 5 more into the same target.
AV 3112fps
SD 11
ES 37
Over a 10 shot string...had two shots hit 3135...if not for thos two numbers would really tighten up.

CaptC are they all new barrels? Looks like 2980fps is where the 6.5-284 wants to shoot. I'd work with that charge going up and down in .1 increments to see how wide it is for both powders. Once you have that see if changing seating and lastly maybe try primers to tighten up an already really good es👍
The 06 version I'd try a ladder to try to find a better flat spot in the velocity. However if the barrel is new I'd just run the lighter of the 2 and find my seating till the barrel settles in abit. Then do the ladder to find that flat spot. Nice shooting!
My student brought her ar today and was throwing brass on me while I was shooting next to her. She was complaining about my brake being loud while I have 2 nice blisters on my neck from her brass. It's all part of training. The better you can focus while other crap is going on the less susceptible you are to having a buck fever moment and botching a shot on a life's work hunt.

Quoting myself so I can bring the data to this picture of the 10 shot group...

The 6.5-06 is only about a month old, but I have over 300 rounds down the the pipe.

The 6.5x284 is 8 to 10 months old...about the same round count.

Worked up to those two loads for it, I got my can so I was playing with it...found that even in a AR platform, with hand loads the 7.62x39 was a sleeper in the firearm world! With a day/night scope and can...I completely forgot about the 6.5x284.

What do u mean by 'sleeper' with the old commie round?

Yes sir...I built my first 7.62x39 AR about 15 years ago and wouldn't trust it to shoot over 75 yards and just barely thought it was enough to take a doe...

Accuracy was not not good enough to head shoot hogs beyond 50 yards.

BUT! Once I shot some hand loads through, I ended up hunting with the entire season!

High lights for 2019
Shot coyote at 200yds
Doe just under 150 yds
Head shot a hog 112yds

I recorded all of my shots as well with the ATN Day/Night scope too...so I have proof! 😜

But yes..."the commie" cartridge will run right with a 6.5 Grendel out to 200 yards!

See, Socialism louses up everything--even Commie Govt. ammunition! If they can't even make consistent Commie rifle ammo, how are we supposed to trust them with our healthcare?🤣

Haven't had this rifle out in at least 12 years. T/C 444 marlin. Used to be my go to hog gun. Cold clean oiled barrel. Factory Hornaday 265 FTX. Leupold 3.5x10 with lighted floating cross hair. I zeroed it. tomorrow I'll try again with foiled bore.
