175 Berger Elite Hunter Jump???

The 175 and the 180Hybrid aren't that much different......a .175-.188 freebore would be the minimum I would go.

The barrels I've had were .188, .215, .220, .225, .235 and .250...I settled on .235fb for my application.

Agree....I've have the same results with he 180's. Velocity only about 20 fps slower only difference. Those are my goto's except when I go to the big 7's then I switch to 195's.

I have reloaded for 2 rifles with the same reamer and had very similar results:

N560 - 62.2gr and 62.8gr @ 2,850 fps in 2 different rifles (20 and 22" barrels)

This is an awesome combo! Longtine88, are you shooting a 26" barrel?

I did something very similar to what you're doing but in 7RM. Loaded a couple of dummy rounds with the boat tail junction just below even from the bottom of the neck and JGS built the reamer to seat .010 off. I picked up considerable velocity due to the longer seating depth and as a bonus the 160 Accubond (ogive much further forward) also fits wonderfully. Neither of these bullets are likely to go away anytime soon, hell you cant hardly find either of them right now but I have enough of both to last as long as the barrel.

I did a lot of testing on different powders with this bullet in the 7 SAUM. Here they are.

Powder Nodes for 175 Elite's 7 Saum ADG Brass:
RL 26 63.3 2987' avg 0.31 moa
N565 63.8 2930' avg 0.22 moa
N560 62.9 2996' avg 0.25 moa
RL 23 61.6 2994' avg 0.28 moa

These are charges from the same rifle with a free bore of .195". Proof barrel 8.4" twist . There seemed to always be a node close to the 3,000' mark. COAL was 3.078" Hope this helps
Impressive. Thanks for sharing.

Also a 7 SAUM I appreciate your reply's. Have you tried jumping them further to see how they did in your rifles?
Lo
For those that have run the .284 175 Berger Eline Hunter bullets how much jump did they like? I'm trying to decide how much freebore I need. I'm building on a XM length action so 3.2" coal is max. I would like to target 3.1". My smith asked me to send him some dummy rounds that he will set the reamer for. So I loaded them right at 3.1" but I need to let him know if I want to jump them more than .01 which for a hunting rifle I usually like a .03 jump. Just curious what those bullets like usually.
A dummy round for a new rifle????? What????
On a new Rifle that's not reamed/ built yet you are asking a Hypothetical Question.
There no guarantee on what it likes yet.
You will have to figure that out .Trial and Error.
Good Luck
