How many gamma juole's are you generating at the muzzle? You know anything less than 80 gamma joule's produces a pathetic photon-ablation coefficient and your effective range is not very good. Do not even try to discuss a photon ray-rifle generating less than 125 gamma joule's in a long range forum.

I only shoot at tiny little targets and same size rodents at modest distances (ranges) but should an up-grade be available for common use it would render the popular intent to drive long, heavy for caliber & pointy bullets at high velocities to the primitive weapons category. A device having significant emission energy might require a pickup truck to transport or possibly something bigger having a tractor. I am uncertain of what radiation energy my imaginary device might generate but it should be able to warm breakfast toast/buns. Should my imaginary puny low energy beams be projected out to limitless boundaries some curved trajectory would occur.
