@ Birddog,..
Read VLD Pilot's Post,.. "Carefully" M's and Amaxes ARE Explosive and "Can" cause,.. issues !
For Closer Range shots OR,.. IF, hitting, ANY Bone, you want to, Use, the Horn 143 gr. ELD-X's or, 140 gr. Elite Hunter, Berger's,..
UNLESS you like, Cutting Out a Lot of, Bloodshot Meat and making, a "Mess",.. in General.
The ELD-M's have a .023 thick Jacket and, the X's Have a .037 thick Jacket ( Big Difference in,.. "Toughness" and,.. penetration ! ).
The Berger 140's ARE Tough too and usually, Shoot THROUGH chit at, Good Velocities Leaving, the innards ,.. Jello ( animal,. DRT ! )
I'm not opposed to trying the 143's since I have a box laying around.
It'll definitely be a pass on the Berger for hunting for me. Without going into detail I had a poor experience with one and I lost confidence in them.

I've heard my wife tell me many times that I act like I am 12.
I didn't have much parental guidance when I was young, pretty much just get out of here and be home when the street lights come on. Good times!
One of the benefits of loosing my hearing has been that I cannot hear my wife. Or can at least claim I didn't.
Our entertainment when young was either some type of ball or the pellet gun. Or going down to the irrigation holes and bream fishing with cane poles. At school recess we played chicken with our pocket knives. Nothing like an Old Timer hanging a blade in your friends brand new Air Jordans with his foot still in it.
All of that had to wait until I got all the hogs fed and the stalls washed out though. Plus I cut kindling from fat lightered stumps with an ax every day. That started at age 6 or 7. I never cut myself with the ax.

The 65 Creed is, "What" Us NON Man-bun guys, call it, so lets Please, stick with,.. Creedmoor Derangement Syndrome
CDS,. I'm Fine with,. THAT !
My ole' buddy, memtb has, a "Touch" of,. CDS from,.. time to time !
Still, a great Guy,.. But, he worries me once in a While with, his need for,.. Warp Speed, Barrel Burners !

6.5 Creed is good.
Yes memtb has a touch of CDS and I can let that slide since he definitely doesn't have TDS!

Not so much a "barrel burner"……but @ 90 grains burned with each shot, it is a "powder burner"! 😉 memtb

Plus, I didn't want to lose my hearing for my upcoming DEI training
Makes me wonder about the 3-letter agencies. We all remember how the FBI couldn't handle the 10mm and thereby downgraded.
I wonder if the 3-letter agencies would have needed to downgrade to the CM if if Kackles McWordsalad had won...?

First, y'all's deer are much heavier than ours on average so take this for what you paid for it.
Just my opinion but with the 143 eldx and moderate Creedmore speed I would stay on mid to high shoulder and break bone to help with expansion. I have nothing against the 143 eldx. I just haven't shot them. My brother shoots the 145eldx in 270 and likes it a lot. Like me though, he shoulder shoots.
One load for my 6.5-06 runs 2975 with 140 eldm's. 147 eldm's from the same gun runs 2936. Impact velocity at 100 yards is about 2825. Staying behind the shoulder at 100 yards gives an exit from golf ball to baseball size. Shots on the shoulder they just fold up like a lawn chair with the bullet either exiting or stopping in offside hide with lots of internal damage. You will get some core/These bullets have about 250fps more velocity at muzzle than the 24" CM.
For our does that average around 100 pounds I shoot 123 eldm's from an AR
just below 2800fps. I stay on or close to shoulder. Deer just fold up
.
I do not find the Eldm's to be as explosive as the Amax. I shoot both in 30 cal wI shoot eldm's and SSTs in 6.5 caliber. I like the eldm more.

It is astounding how many reply's this has received. I am still in the old shool camp of .270 Weatherby, 300 win mag, 338 lapua, Barrett m107 .50 cal. They just work. They are proven over many many years. Reliable. Awesome.

I am always open to new ideas. I have seen the light when it comes to the FN P90 5.7x28 as an amazing cartridge.

Those in the .270 Weatherby short magnum, 6.5 creedmore, 300 blackout camp. I just don't have the experience. From what I've read and seen, I just can't get on board.
(The 6.5 creedmore just doesn't excite me like the .300 or the 7mm Weatherby)

i said it and i stand by it.
