Prayers sent,,for you both
Very well put cause it's definitely true!! ThanksPraying for him. If you haven't let him know what he meant. In the end you young guys helped by us old guys are the trophies that endure.
True so very trueI'll ad a prayer also.
I was named after my godfather. He most likely the reason I got into hunting and fishing. My dad did very little but my godfather collected guns and would sometimes show them to me. He was in the 8th AirForce in WWII. His B17 was shot down over Belgium. He escaped capture and got back to England. He went home and started an autobody business and that's where he passed. He got lead poising so bad they could not get blood through a standard needle. They got that cleared up and then he got cancer. He was in remission three times. The last time he was very weak. He wanted to go to his secret fishing hole one last time, but his wife was against that! I was young and strong and I offered to take him. I told them I could carry him if needed. Nobody, including his wife knew where his secret fishing spot was. He took me there as long as I promised to NOT tell anyone else. All these years later I have been true to my word. He passed not long after. I was so happy and proud that I could get him out one last time. The lesson here is.....go do it, whatever "it" might be. It may be the last time you ever do. God Bless all.
Amen me also SirI let him know every day. I help take his fish off the hook sometimes or re tie his line when his hands won't work right although he gets mad at me for doing it. My reply is always, you'd do it for me, you just keep catching them.
We sure are losing his kind to fast these days, I suppose it'll be my time soon enough. I just hope I can mean as much to somebody else as he has meant to me.
Amen to thatPRAYERS INDEED , I know how it feels to loose a close friend and a long time hunting buddy , when a friend thanks you for being his friend on his death bed that's something you never forget . PRAYERS FOR A MIRACULOUS HEALING , my brother in law just went through radiation treatment for throat cancer successfully , prayers for the same outcome for your friend.
Good deal buddyTurpentine21... I am most definitely a believer in the Power of Prayer. As a Stage 3 Colon Cancer survivor (11 years ago), I know it works, so I'm sending up all I got for Russell. During my battle, my Mother (RIP) always used to tell me "no matter what the doctors say... God has the last word". And I say... "It ain't over til the Fat Lady sings"...
Note: I usually avoid discussing religion and politics on forums but I do sometimes make exceptions... this is one. If he's a Bible reader he may get an uplift from Psalm 27... 'nough said!
Good information therePrayers sent.
I survived an HPV C16 Stage 3A throat cancer diagnosed in 2017. As a public service, I always encourage those under 40 to get the HPV vaccination (especiallythose of you with teenaged children). 80-90% of adults are carriers of the virus (40k of HPV-caused cancer annually). It's not an STD in most cases - it can be spread through kissing. It lays dormant for years or decades bf it turns active and causes cell mutation. Because it's typically located in the base of the tongue or in the throat (or other "sensitive" body parts), it's often in advanced stages before it is diagnosed, and the surgeries are often disfiguring. I was fortunate that mine was on my tonsil. I required two surgeries but was spared radiation or chemo.
