I always presumed that. What about putting down pressure on the scope? Does that change anything?

That is, in part, a reason for freefloating the barrel.

Same can happen if you have the stock pressure/resting on one side of an object-tree trunk, pack, etc.

Watching you muzzle is a good idea too. I've read several instances where hunters who were shooting off the hood of their vehicle blew out the window or damaged the hood. But ... I guess it didn't change the point of impact.
