Ok folks, Learn me bout custom actions. Im only interested in those that can run BDL/ADL style bottom metal and am looking for the smoothest/fastest/least binding of those.

I like my bolt rifles to run smooth and fast, no binding, so interested in hearing which ones are known for those traits. If you have used both please compare them to a Tikka so I have something to reference.

Im wanting to build/buy me a new rifle this year and may end up going this route.

I have two different custom actions that are using BDL and they are both very smooth. The Kelbly lineup, I am using Atlas Tactical right now, but will move to the Nanook and Terminus Kratos Lite, it is very smooth, you cannot go wrong with either lineup. I am sure the other custom actions are going to be the same, so just take a pick and go with it.

Why not build a Tikka?
I prefer not to have a rifle magazine sticking in my hand when carrying by my side. The barrel wont be long enough to move the balance point ahead of the mag and i spend tons of time with it carried this way. The carbon stock i put on the one i had helped this profile a bunch but its still a thing. Hoping to avoid it if I can.

Any recommendations on bottom metal?

Ive read of some custom actions geared to competitiom actually being designed so tight tolerance that they can bind up in dusty/dirty field conditions.
Its pretty common going thru the brush to have needles and leaves, dirt n crap everywhere. Both these lines good to go there?

I use Hawkins M5 Oberndorf and Wyatt's Extended Mag, this combo works great and you have enough room in the Mag box to load them long. If you are going to do a 6.5 PRC, I would do it in a L/A and talk with Wyatt and see which mag they recommend.

Good info, thanks! Does the Oberndorf style increase capacity by a round? I heard that on a podcast one time. Forget who it was...JVB i think.
