If you had to dig in your safe and pick out only one do-all rifle you had to use the rest of your life what would you be grabbing and why? mine would be my old savage 99e lever action .308, its accurate and .308 ammo is typically easy to find. Strong second would be my Springfield waypoint 6.5PRC thing is stupid accurate.

I use ARs all the time and would probably go with my AR 10 in 7.62 x 51. If I have the range it'll do out to about 700 yards pretty easily. It's 20" barrel cuts performance some but it's very accurate.

I just bought a Ruger SFAR 6.5 CM 20" barrel and customized it. Trigger, gas block, charging handle, removed the brake, recoil pad, possibly stock, and other small things. It may be a choice one of these days but I'm still working on loads, etc. The 20" barrel kind of hamstrings the CM a bit.

Mine would have to be my Browning A-Bolt in 280AI. I have 2 very accurate loads. One with 175 Bergers and the other one with 145 HHT's. That would cover just about every animal in NA. A close second would be my 6.5 PRC with 156 Bergers. Only thing keeping this one in second is the weight.

Out of my personal arsenal it would have to be either 7 rm or 3000 wn. i believe either has enough horsepower for the big jobs and can be tuned down for the smaller ones. You can almost find ammo lying on the ground doesn't hurt either.

i'm going with my GOAT since 1976............'61 mod70 264wm................i retired it after 2,500 + rounds, but it still shoots less than 1 moa. i bought a '16 (iirc) mod70 264wm to replace it. for more fun i built/assembled another 264wm (McGowen 7.5t 32") w/110 action for even more fun.

My 1998 Steyr Pro Hunter 30-06. Shoots 0.75- moa with every factory ammo I ever fed it and 0.5- moa with my 150 Accubond handloads, proof tested to 120,000 psi, and its the only action I've ever operated that makes Defiance feel sloppy in comparison. Besides, that butter knife bolt handle and the spiral of her radial hammer forged barrel are just dead sexy…

My mother bought my father a Savage model 99E in .308 Winchester in 1960 on his 30th birthday. I tried more than a few times to get him to shoot other rifles/cartridges unsuccessfully over the years. His last hunting season was 2015 at the age of 85. He gave it to my son. As for me, my .280AI built around a Defiance action with a minor hesitation while glancing at my X-Bolt in 7mm-08.
