25-06 Ackley Improved velocities

True, but how much does an extra 100fps reduce the life of the barrel?
Does anyone know?
Barrel life is individual to a barrel. No 2 will behave exactly the same. I have cooked a barrel in 850 rounds where groups continued to get larger for the next 150 rounds where I pulled the barrel.

Alternatively, I have burned a barrel so it looks like very bad alligator skin in the throat with small pieces beginning to fall away and that barrel still shoots inside a cent coin. When a rifle is capable of head shooting a sparrow, you leave it alone.

The powders chosen and the heat generated by the gasses produced wears the barrel, not the 100fps.

updated info to my 2506 fire forming loads
Increase the charge weight to 51.5 grains
Now that I have 100 pieces fire form, I will load up the newly formed AI cartridges and see what we get

51.5g (+/- .2 ) of IMR4350 behind a 117g SBT. COAL 3.1750. H2O capacity was 65.8.

New case is 72.2

Last update on increased velocity of a 25-06AI.
As a recap. I use Winchester virgin 25-06 Brass. 51.5 grains of IMR 4350 gave me a nice crisp shoulder fire forming. Average velocity was 3046 FPS. This was with a Sierra 117SBT. after the fire forming, Shot a few at 53 to 55 grains of IMR 4350 fairly anemic in velocity . then increased it to 56 to 58 grains… good solid velocity and excellent accuracy.
Attached are the pictures of the groups with two shots with each. No pressure all the way up to 58 grains. This left the powder at the neck and shoulder junction.
Average increase was 356 ft./s
Not typical in a long action …I usually see 250 ft./s in a short action I see about 150.

@Justice1327 nice work going the extra mile to maximize the potential of the ackley chamber and nice groups, thats some impressive velocity with a 117gn in a quarterbore. Some criticism on ackley improving even further back in this thread is proven wrong, Im glad I went down the path on the other recommendations here.

Any experience in what a 133-134g velocity would be?

Some years ago, I shot the 100g at 3580 in a K&P barrel I had in the 25/06 AI with Win brass. I put some massive holes in coyotes using R#22.
Keith I was getting 3200-3300 testing different powders for a "maximum" with 133 Bergers in the Sherman LA. This was using very mellow Nosler brass formed from
.270 Win.

I dont personally, but fresh in my mind researching powder to use I was recommended by someone in another forum shooting my same bullet to try N570 for max velocity, he was getting 3250 I think with the 127HHT.

That's a generous layer of smackem you added, Justice.💪
Making me want some WW brass! I'm loaded down with Peterson though.
Have you shot 110-117g? What velocity?
I actually purchased some Peterson 270 brass here with the intention of using it for the 25–06 AI
