McGuire Ballistics 6.5 PRC load workup!

I am using N560 as well with my 6.5PRC's and the 125 MBCR. My rifles show the
clicker issue pretty early as I end up at 56gr with one and 54gr with the other, 3150fps and 3080fps. Setup a temp table(Kestrel) for the loads and you should be good to go.

Great feedback 👍🏽

Got out to the range to zero and check my drops. So far so good!

Checked my muzzle velocity again too, started the morning off at 28 degrees F.

4 shots
Average - 3246
ES - 20
SD - 9.0

After a brief cool down and checking zero on another gun we were off to distance. Checked at the following ranges that I had steel at and everything lines up with my drop chart I made using the advertised BC (.600 G1), current muzzle velocity, sight height, and a good 100 yd zero.

Yds - Strelok ballistic solution (what I actually dialed)

400 yds - 4.3 moa (dialed 4.25)

552 - 7.6 moa (dialed 7.75)

785 - 13.6 (dialed 13.75)

This has been about as easy of a load workup as I've done. I'm just going to keep practicing and documenting in the process. Besides ordering another batch of bullets there is not much left to do. Probably test temp stability of N560 on a hot day when they get here.

I'd have no reservations about hunting with it today! All shots were first round impacts at said yardage.

Nice work!

It's the end of summer and getting everything finalized for the fall hunts. I am planning to take this setup for Wyoming Antelope in a couple weeks then for Sitka Blacktail in Alaska this November. Should be a great test!

Still running the same load I started with. It has been great to practice with this year and held up.

Currently still loading:

6.5 PRC
59 gr N560
125 gr CRSF
ADG now 3x fired
Fed210m

Suppressed using an AB Raptor 6 + 1" reflex mount suppressor.

Averaging 3250 fps, ES's in the 10-20's, SD's in the 10 or less almost every outing.

Just for kicks I did a test recently comparing CCI250 vs Fed210m's and decided to go with the 210's. The accuracy and average velocities were nearly identical shooting 5 shot groups on multiple days. However, the 210's yielded lower ES/SD's on average and especially hot days.

Speaking of temps! I've been wanting to try N560 for myself knowing full well it's not as temp stable as other options. So far no issues. From spring to now almost early fall every Range session has yielded an average velocity of 3245-3255 fps. Have not done a documented test at freezing and hot temps with ice packs or heating packs. Just plain field practice.

Clickers... now that I'm on my 3rd firing I have had the occasional clicker. To be honest it doesn't bother me and I just loaded up the last big lot for season. Not getting any harsh pressure signs like heavy bolt or an ejector mark. I make mention of it because it was mentioned previously. Could just be that my die isn't sizing the base of the brass enough... just being transparent and sharing results so take that for what it be 😁

Today's range session:

This combination has repeated these results several times this year. Some even smaller groups, some larger. But it's been the norm.

I'm still working off the same drop card that I've posted previously too.

So stoked to get it a'field. I will of course post up field reports here 🤘🏼

That hot *** burning powder gets some screaming velocity. For sho!

I've shot it in a couple of mine just to see the speed, precision was there as well.

I've been pretty hesitant but I'm finding for hunting loads it's a great option. It would not be my first choice for ELR or most competition setups... but I'm not into that, yet ;)

Think I'll give it a try in my 7 SAUM next. That one's pushing the @McGuireBallistics 143's at 3100 with H4831sc right now.

Back from the first hunt of the fall with the TS 6.5 PRC + 125 CR's. The @McGuireBallistics bullets worked flawlessly. Took a great buck at 234 yards with a single shot, he went feet before tumbling. Also punched a coyote at 501 yards with a single shot. Both first round impacts one and done. The rifle system as a whole just flat performs!
