Need a broadhead for elk

Wow 6 pgs of diff advice. I think you're good to go with what you have. Blessed with 30.5" draw, that is a big advantage. If you want to try a fixed, I'd rec a magnus buzzcut or whatever version Magnus you can find on a shelf in you current bh weight - i think they make 100g heads. You need to be able to sharpen them. Any of these recommendations will work, but you are short on time.

As I've gotten older I've had to turn my bow down to 55# draw weight. I used the G5 fixed blade and had a pass through on broadside shot 2 years ago. If you can shootem' straight, I would recommend fixed broadheads for elk.

I agree with your comment. If you hit them in the heart like that shot you could use a field point. Great shooting and great elk.

QAD exodus 125. Look up reviews on lusk archery on the U Tube.
I have killed many bulls with them.
I used to shoot muzzy 100, then the 125 which was a solid head, but quit when they sold out to a bigger company.

Old Elk hunter here. Grizzly El Grande. Flat toasts Elk. PITA to sharpen but they giterdun.

Yeah there's been a couple guys that have tested it, including a younger me.

So far I, anyone I know, or dudes on YouTube haven't found that it matters to any measurable degree. As long as the spine during the fletching process is aligned the exact same way seems to have the biggest impact.

I would like to ask the OP if this thread/question had a usable result and if so what did it help you decide? Please do not answer as i would with sarcasm, bias, and loss of faith in human kind. Oh yeah it has been very I helpful. I have to say it's a lot of information, but it hasn't been overwhelming. I've truly enjoyed reading every post. I end up trading a buddy for six Magnus Black Hornet Ser Razor 125's. I also got a pack of QAD exodus which was one of the main recommendations in this thread. I shot both of these out to 50 yards today and they flew great.

I did find the Grim Reaper mechanical and NAP spitfire mechanical recommendations interesting as I have used both of those in the past on Whitetail and was very pleased. I'm going to pick up some of the Grim Reapers and then make a final decision before I head west in three weeks.

To be honest, I trust everyone's opinion here and know that everyone is responding with real world experience so I would be confident in any of the set ups that have been recommended in this thread. The reason I'm going with what I've chosen is because I think it's a quick transition and since I don't have a lot of time, it will work. But I'm excited to try some of the other stuff mentioned in the thread.

I chose the QAD exodus based on the number of recommendations in this thread and tested it today. I think it's going to be a solid choice. I chose the black hornet based on recommendations in the thread but also local availability. They are also flying well. Here in Western North Carolina Whitetail archery season opens next week so I'm going to try to shoot a couple of animals then.

Lastly, the Hoyt podcast mentioned in this thread was very insightful, and I recommend everyone listening to it.
