I'd vote to go with the Dog, you can buy a rifle later. I have 3 rescue dogs myself, and wouldn't trade them for the world.

Like mentioned above, the connection/bond you form with them is priceless.

A new gun will not chew your favorite slippers but then it will not dive headlong into a briar patch to retrieve a downed bird. I cannot imagine my life without dogs. The end of the story sucks for sure, but it's a ride I'm willing to take over and over.

For me the decision would always be a good dog, alot more coon and bobcats and squirrels where im at then birds, but a good gun is always great aswell so good luck with that decision
