After two plus years it is finally finished. And no I did not desecrate a WWII heirloom (it a post war commercial production M1 Carbine copy). Leupold 1.75-6 variable (that I pulled off of my .375 H&H Africa gun), laminated stock. Now I just have to find an outfitter to guide me for a mountain lion.

FWIW - my buddy and I hunted mountain lions in Utah a few years back. He brought a vintage M1 carbine with original sights. When a big tom was treed, it was easy to move withing 25yds, probably less. One shot with a Barnes factory load and the cat leapt from the tree and made a mad dash across the snow. The blood trail was substantial, and the cat only ran about 50yds before sliding under a deadfall. DOA The bullet entered the lion's chest and exited near his last rib.

The 30 carbine proved to be plenty of gun even for the largest mountain lions.
