New rifle

Seekins would get my vote. I have a PH1 in 6.5prc and a PH2 in 28nosler and they are both hammers. The VX5HD is a descent scope but I prefer the Zeiss V4 in that price range. Never owned a VX6 but if I were spending that kind of money I would be looking at nightforce, you can pick up some great deals on used NF here if you watch the classifieds closely, the good deals don't last long.

I haven't had experience with full Proof rifles but have 2 with Proof barrels and both shoot factory ammo incredibly well so that's what I'd go with if you can afford it. I've read great things about Fierce and Seekins too so if budget is much of a concern I don't think you can go wrong.

Ok so went ahead and got the seekins threw on a scope I already had on it just to try it out. It was awesome with my banish thirty recoil was more like .308 and action is smooth as silk. I unfortunately didn't get pictures of groups and the wind was really bad plus was just freehanding will post pictures when I get settled in on a bench

So I sat down with new rifle and did a little testing with eldx 200 grain I like the results but want to try the 178 grain to compare. Any thoughts on the difference of the two weights or the eldx ammo itself?

Depends if you're hunting or doing paperwork with them. The 178gr impart more shock over normal hunting ranges. For game up to 500lb I've found them a more sudden killer.

Either will kill about anything on the planet 10 times over, the 200 will buck the wind better at the expense of recoil. Shoot whichever is more accurate or that you can get ahold of easiest.

Thanks, been doing a bit more research and whatnot on some of these forums...primarily bow hunt or have shots within 100 yards or so (FL man over here), but I have my first of hopefully many Western hunt this winter and have a bit to learn about open country rifle hunting!

So I took the advice and bought some of both the 178 and 200 grain bullets and i had a new problem they both shoot great can't decide which I like better I put a leupold vx5 hd scope 3-15x56 and then sent off for two cds dials so now I can shoot either depending on what I am doing or hunting. So decision made I got both

I'm not a fan of push-feed actions and especially so in a hunting environment although many do use them. Have you looked at a Winchester model 70 with controlled round feed?
