7mm prc

has any one killed a elk with this round?what are your thoughts on the kill and prefomance of the round.

Pick a good bullet, practice plenty, take high percentage shots and get the camera ready.

Shot 2 last year with a 7prc running the 195 eol. 370y and 80y and both died after taking just a few steps. Great exit wounds on both.

Shot my cow elk at 421 with 175 eldx bullets and bucked once and drop like a rock

Anything shot with a PRC isn't going to be able to tell us the difference between the PRC or any other 7mm caliber bullet that is properly placed.

Killed my cow at 200 yards with a well places 180 eld m. She "Didn't go 20!"

300 yards with the Speed Goat and 180 ELDM

It took me a while to realize that the headstamp on the case isn't what matters when it comes to terminal performance. It's the type of bullet you are using and impact velocity.

Guys who say that .308 Winchester "isn't enough gun for elk" but will be comfortable shooting elk at 800, 900, 1000 yards with a .300 Win Mag must not realize that a .308 Win at 250 yards can have more energy than their .300 Win Mag at 500 yards range.

Look at the real world ballistic numbers and how a particular bullet performs at the distances you expect to shoot and see if the 7PRC fits what you are looking for. Odds are it should do just fine.

I just got my 7 PRC in March. I will likely use it on elk this fall. I've seen plenty of elk dropped with 7mm Rem Mags and I killed two bulls with a .280 Rem, so I'm quite confident it will work.

I shot a cow elk at just shy of 500yrds. She took maybe 2 steps before she fell. 175gr ELDx.

The 7 PRC did really well for me last year. 1 elk, 1 antelope, and one big horn sheep. 3 total shots.

175 Factory ELDX Hornady ammo @319 yds this past fall. Hit in crease behind shoulder. Went ten yards and collapsed. My first with the 7PRC and an Eldx.
