It took me a while to realize that the headstamp on the case isn't what matters when it comes to terminal performance. It's the type of bullet you are using and impact velocity.

Guys who say that .308 Winchester "isn't enough gun for elk" but will be comfortable shooting elk at 800, 900, 1000 yards with a .300 Win Mag must not realize that a .308 Win at 250 yards can have more energy than their .300 Win Mag at 500 yards range.

Look at the real world ballistic numbers and how a particular bullet performs at the distances you expect to shoot and see if the 7PRC fits what you are looking for. Odds are it should do just fine.
