Gotta be a drag racer and an old geezer !!!!It's been a long time since I have heard someone say anything about a cool can
I had one back in the day
Seeing that old Power Glide on the back of that engine almost makes me feel guilty for turning down a rebuild on one yesterday. The shop has been very busy and I just don't have room for one to sit around if it has had part failures, or if the usual bellcrank pivot hole is egg shaped and the rod worn. Things are fast paced these days and turn around time is expected to be short.still around since 1955...but almost unrecognizable these days..

I wish I still had my power glides but when I was young I sold them offSeeing that old Power Glide on the back of that engine almost makes me feel guilty for turning down a rebuild on one yesterday. If they were aluminum, they were good units for drag racing. If it was cast iron, just say goodbye and walk away. Unless you are doing a full restoration.I wish I still had my power glides but when I was young I sold them off
That's either an ultra rare car or a custom. 1976 was the last year for the 455 in T/A's And they weren't that great at 290 HP.My step grandfather had one the same color with a tan rag top, my grandmother had a 1977 trans-am with a 455 lol
That must have been the year of it 1976, I specifically remember it was a factory 455 car. That's either an ultra rare car or a custom. 1976 was the last year for the 455 in T/A's And they weren't that great at 290 HP.
You have that right.I'm nostalgic for the old stuff. But man the amount of power the LS motors are capable of with just simple mods or boost is insane. Plus the tuning with the computers is spot on.
Yes they were both aluminumIf they were aluminum, they were good units for drag racing. If it was cast iron, just say goodbye and walk away. Unless you are doing a full restoration.
