What is the longest shot you have made on a live target

400 yards on a running 5x5 Mule Deer with a 30-06 springfield military rifle with peep sights at the base of the skull when he turned and started running streight away from me it was the last shot in the magazine. The one in my photo to the left was a 300 yard shot as you can see another 5x5 Mule deer running broad side through the heart one shot. with a 100gr HP from my 264WM. Home on leave from the Navy after 2 tours of Viet Nam.
Thank you for your service brother

Rock Chuck 1024 yards (lasered) with my M24 using my load that clones the7.62x51 M118LR 175 gr HPBT, ok... it took two shots only because on the first shot he moved while the bullet was in route, on flat ground to target but... that first shot forze him and he stayed tight for the second shot, and all I could see was helicopter tail fibrous spinning behind the rock. Cheers

I'll make this post for my wife, she's made much longer shots on much larger game…..but, this one actually impressed me the most.

I was at work and my wife could hear our Black Lab out in the dog run throwing a fit. The Lab was looking out toward the gravel road than ran in front of our house.

Initially she couldn't see anything, but then saw it. A Fox was in the ditch, and would occasionally peek over the ditch bank to look at the Lab. This is when the Lab would start barking.

My wife went to the safe, grabbed her Ruger 77/22 ….I think she loaded it with Remington Golden Bullet HP's. She waited until the Fox ducked down, stepped out onto the front porch and waited for the next "peek a boo" event.

She was ready with a good rest using one of the porch roof posts. When the Fox's head popped-up……she tapped it "right between the lookers"!

It was only about a 70 yard shot, near perfect placement (about 1/4" off of dead [pun intended] center) on a target that would only present itself for a few seconds before ducking again! memtb

Almost embarrassed to say mine... 396 yards on a bull elk, with my .300 Win mag at 29 minutes, 59 seconds after sundown (with a factory Federal Fusion 180 grain). My old Vortex was having serious lux issues that late. I do like to get close enough that I feel I cannot miss.

My farthest with an iron sight was 159 yards on a running Kudu, also in failing light, with a .444 Marlin, 300 grain Buffalo Bore cartridge.

I was happy to get both in a single shot, but I am in absolute awe of some of the hunters' skills on this board.

Nevada: I made a 972 yd shot on a rock chuck in the wind!
My brother in law and I were meat hunting and a whitetail doe walked out we didn't have a range finder but we guessed the shot was 600 yards but just to be on the safe side I'll call it 500 yards, it was 2 ridges over in his pasture but with a 300 rum it was bang flop
