Yep, but wanna do it with a 170gr .277Anyone else considered wildcating the 7mm PRC? I have a reamer on order throated for the 156 bergers. A dummy round beside a 6.5 PRC is pictured
Scott, I think the .277 is the perfect round in the 7prc case with the rifle you already built me. Want to do another one just like that, just not in the works right now. I know the 6.5s are where it's at, but don't forget about the .277Yep, but wanna do it with a 170gr .277
I'm thinking mid 3200 might hit very low 3300What kind of velocities do you think you'll get with that combination? Looks pretty ideal to me possibly
My .277 fetish comes from first hand experience here in Texas. I don't know what it is about that caliber, but things just seem to go down faster with it? The faster you push it, the better it does. Seems like the new 7prc case is just about right to make the heavy .277 work like a charm? When I get to that point again, this will be my next build....I Like my .277s and don't have one in the barn right nowThe only advantage.277 will have over the.264 is you will be able to find bullets on the shelf and a slight edge in efficiency over a 6.5 bore and if you have the barrel length equal velocity to the 7 prc Nothing wrong with that, and well worth considering depending on your intended use. I realize that bullet weight being equal the 7 will smoke the 6.5 in this case but the 6.5 will have the better bc.

That's precisely one of the reasons why I went with .270 AI in 2012 to primarily propel the 165/175 Matrix VLDs over .280 AI. Everybody in their brother has a .280 AI. To date, the .270 AI remains a non-SAAMI, and there are only a handful of owners here in LRH, just like I like it. But that's just me. Yes, I have ..264 and 284 cals too. As far as the difference between the cartridge and bullet choices, that is another story altogether.I have nothing against .277's, but there's just so many fantastic .284 and 6.5 projectiles already out there. I know there's some high BC already and more promised in .277, but I just don't see much upside vs what was already out there in other bores.
