270 Winchester, flat shooting, accurate, mild recoil all combined in one cartridge.

AND,. IF wanting a little more HP,.. the .270 WSM with, 140's rocking along at, 3,200 FPS will get the Job DONE "Well",.. on Elk or, Boar !
Either of, the 140 gr. AccuBonds or, 140 grain Berger, Cl. Hunting Bullets, ARE, "Killers" and they are, "Lazers" at, 3,150 to 3,200 FPS !
NO need for "Hold Over" til' PAST, 350 yards with, a 200 Yd, Zero ! And available in, a VERY accurate, inexpensive, Tikka, T-3 Rifle.
ONE Rifle / One Load to,.. "Do IT, all"
LOW Recoil so, NO need for,.. a Brake !!

I always get a kick out of the responses to what rifle cartridge should someone buy. It is especially amusing to read comments regarding what would be inappropriate in my mind justified with if you can place the bullet in the right place it will work. I'm a decent shot with my rifles, but I also have been in situations where difficult angles or positions were encountered while hunting. Many times you only get one trigger pull on a quality game animal. Use enough gun to increase your odds of harvesting that animal JMHO.

300WM would be a great choice. Use 124gr H.H. for pigs and 215gr Berger's for Elk. Put a good muzzle brake on it and your good to go.

Nothing "Wrong" with, a 6.5 Creed loaded with, 143 ELD-X's or 140 gr Elite Hunters at 2,700+ FPS !
Good for 500 ish Yards or, so !
But for "Insurance" on Big ELK at distances to, 700+ Yards,.. I'll grab my PROVEN , .270 WSM,.. everytime

You have far greater respect for the ELD-X than I do. And, only in my opinion, 500 is stretching it's capabilities a "wee" bit! memtb

Well I didn't want to start an argument with, the "Man Bun" Creed shooters that claim it to be, a 1,300 yard "sure thing",. Elk Slayer ( LOL ).
My grandson Blew Thru, 3 Deer with, 143 ELD-X's and ALL,.. DRT at, 225 to 497 yards

Perhaps at longer ranges! I always test bullets @ "up close and personal" range……the ELD-X's disappointed greatly!

Nothing I hate worse than having to do a "reverse stalk" to put several hundred yards between me and the target! memtb

Ever notice how when someone asks a question like this they disappear after a couple replies on the first page and we just end up debating it between ourselves for the next four, five or thirty pages?

I don't elk hunt, but if my buddy called and said "there are wild hogs and a bull elk in the field where you groundhog hunt grab a rifle and get over here!" I probably grab my 7 SAUM or .280 AI.

There is nothing wrong with a Creedmore, I have 4 of them. 1 is a 6, and 3 are 6/5. They are great cartridges. I like all mine.

I hate to admit it, but I own a Creedmoor myself. I only shoot it when no one is around to see me. My hair is kept short so the man bun thing is OUT!
