Discontinued: IMR Enduron powders.

I've never bought a single pound of Enduron powder... I'm sorry to say I cannot miss something I've never tried. I've somehow gotten along without them for 25 years+ reloading... I am a bit irked that 4320 and PB are gone though... We all have our cross to bear I suppose.

This a blow not only to users of these powders, but to the industry. It means fewer choices in an already sparse marketplace. It will make the shortage much worse.

Well, they were some of the newest powders on the market anyways, and have been pretty sparse since 2019 or longer, so I don't think it'll be an overall significant loss to the current market. It's just one that won't ever come back is all. Yes, they were in the market long enough to become popular, and it sucks to lose them, but there are at least other options still, albeit those can be as hard to find right now too.

Hodgdon is the controling distributor of almost all powders. They control price for the most part.

If we could buy powder direct from the manufacturers & skip the middleman, it would be a lot cheaper.

I feel like this has already been well discussed in this thread already.

Pretty much every retailer you buy from is one form or another of a middle man too.

Man as much as this all sucks I wills say i wouldn't complain IF fewer options meant they could keep up with the products they do offer. Keep iMr 4895, 8208, 4064, 4350, 4831, and 7828 as well as h 4350, 4831, 1000, retumbo, and varget in stock and lose the extras haha.

Is by far my favorite powder used for 4 rifles
Checks all the boxes good speed, accurate loads, cleaner than rl-33
And stable closestnreplacemnt I've found in n568 which has same burn rage and loses about 50fps to n570 but more stable supposedly cleaner not as hard on barrel as n570/rl33 type powder

4166 shoots amazing in my 284, 250ai, 257ai and others. It really irks me when they come out with something that works so well and then not keep it around. I may go to VV exclusively. They seem to be the most consistent maker in the world

Well the Finns, especially since Russia invaded Ukraine believe in firearms ownership, hunting, and shooting sports.

They have a history of being excellent marksmen, and make quality firearms like Sako and Tikka and powders from Vihtavuori......not cheap though.....Most VV powders are 50+ per lb. lately...but then so is Alliant if you can find it and Hodgdon lately too.

Not sure why yet, as it was just announced, but Hodgdon will no longer offer any of the IMR Enduron product line of powders.

I can only assume General Dynamics (who makes the actual powder) can no longer keep making it for them. I know they used to make a lot of powder for Hodgdon and after they were awarded a huge defense contract they told Hodgdon they'd only be able to keep making the Enduron powders available to them. Perhaps they can't even do that now. It would explain why finding a lot of those powders has been extremely hard the last few months while others coming from Australia and Europe are still showing up here and there.

The Enduron powders are also made in Canada and it's possible with all the political mess going on up there it has played a part. That's purely speculation though.

I was using 4451 in my Creed but it is a near clone to H4350. Using the same charge, the 4350 was about 30 ft/sec faster. Accuracy was about the same. Fortunately for us, H4350 has been popping up all around lately. They had a ton of it on the shelf at Cabelas in PA when I was there 2 weeks ago.

Looks like I need to make a trip there. Was this Cabelas in Hamburg by chance ?
