What are your thoughts on long range shooting (500 yards or less) from a pig saddle or similar device mounted on tripod?
How stable can you really get, can you watch for shot placement or does it move to much, can you get multi shots off without adjusting tripod placement? I'm looking at night stalker brand to get into trying one at a reasonable price pointMy thoughts are: It works! Do it all the time.
You have anything specific to that topic you want to know?
I though about getting the bogpod deathgrip to try and an internet search led me to want to try this night stalker brand it's about $100 more than the bogpod, I have Caldwell field pods both the chair with built in rest and portable one, also have primos tripod trigger stick. I like the idea of a gun saddle to take weight of the gun off plus its hands free and still ready to shoot.I have a Bog Pod with rifle rest....havent used it a bunch...but it holds the rifle well...has Velcro straps to keep rifle from falling off the the rest....can also pull the rifle off and use it for setting the binos on for classing....but they also have a bino setup....it works really well....use it as a walking stick too.....
I looked up that manfrotto ball head looks good, will it stand up to recoil? I use manfrotto tripod and head for my big eyes for glassingHog or pig saddles work great for what they are designed for. I recommend a manfrotto ball head with the pistol grip to help with traversing the set up in the field.
