I have a Hangin' Tree Cowdog that is for the most part the best dog I've ever had. She and I are naturals together.
She's a great watcher for yotes. When I walk she walks. When I sit she sits. Obedient as all get out.
Very trainable. She was being playful with the donks the other day. Ol' Rosebud nailed her with a wack upside the head that was awful to hear. I figured her skull was crushed.
Didn't happen though. Her left eye is back to normal but she can't/won't even try to open her mouth enough to pick up the baseball we use for fetching.
The down side is that she, like your airdale, is major gun shy. I cut loose with the 375 AM on Saturday and she disappeared. Got a call Sunday afternoon from the lady a couple of miles up the road asking if I'd lost a dog.
She's good on cows too, I suppose until someone shoots one.gun)
