Federal 7mm PRC 170 Gr Terminal Ascent

With a 2" 10 shot group I think there is hope with component bullets. I've got 175 gr 30-06 and 200 gr 300 WSM loaded ammo. Both are loaded to SAAMI minimum length. 175 load shoots under a MOA out to 300 yards, haven't shot the 200's yet. Thanks for sharing .

I'm going to handload but was curious if they were true to velocity. I figured as much since they use Alliant Powder. Gonna have to try a box now on the 18 incher lol

So I just received a Fierce Carbon Rouge with a 20" barrel with a 1/8 twist. I broke in the barrel IAW with factory instructions using a box of Hornady 175GR eld-x and got sub-moa groupings the whole time. After the break in I switched to the 170 gr Terminal Ascents.... Holy **** ***. Not even sure how these things hit the paper at 100 yrds. The picture shows a 3 shot grouping and every bullet appears to have been unstable and entered sideways. My buddy also shot 10 rounds through his 7mm PRC browning x-bolt with a 24" barrel and a 1/8 twist and they made normal holes but held about a 5 inch group at 100yrds. Has anyone else had a similar experience or an idea of what is going on? Super ****ed cause I'm a believer in the bullets terminal performance and would really like to use it for hunting. I will also attach a pic of a group from the hornady exd-x's for reference of the rifles capability.

Just to be extra clear on the first photo each one of the 3 holes is the hole from ONE bullet.

mistakes are made, believe me.
i'd measure that first.

his barrel stabilized the same load/bullet yours didn't….what twist does the 175ELDX require?

These were 155 Terminal Ascents. I noticed some of the tips were beat up so idk if that's why or not but 3000 fps from 18 inch barrel
