Your most dependable thread locker

I recently purchased a quick release mount that would only warranty the part if Vibratite was used and torqued to specs. So that is what I used and by the directions. It works. The only thing I don't like about it is it seems to require a good bit more effort than I care to apply when removing the screws. A little heat would likely help with that but I'm not crazy about using heat on ring screws. With steel screws I don't see any issues with it but with aluminum alloy it could potentially be a problem if not careful.

They are not always easy to find, but an old school electric soldering iron, that type that has about 2 pounds of a copper block as the heated element, are wonderful for heating things like screws without putting much heat into the parts around it.

As others have noted, teflon tape is actually intended to be a thread lubricant and not a sealant. I get the intent, but that tape isn't the right choice.
