You know its a good morning when

So I am hunting a spot tonight that I believed I had not been caught by any deer. Uh huh. I look down and there is a print right where my stool sits. Yep, I don't think I am so hidden in a deadfall as I thought! Deer had to climb thru so crap to get here.

I can relate. Kinda . I took of yesterday early afternoon for a late hunt up by Blackwater in North Fork. Half way up I realized I just had a t shirt and flannel long sleeve on ... 🙄 Everything else perfect. I helped a kid that was packing a nice 5x5 Muley buck out. Got back down to tailhead. Took some pics of him and buck in pack. Got his number. Got to town and text him pics. Didn't hang around to get cold. Today I went back up, with jacket... Had rifle, 10mm, bear spray , 8 in. straight blade and my Chesapeake. A good griz area. Well ... I was about 1/2 hour late. I get about 100 yds up trail and start slipping on marble rocks. Dammit. My walking poles. Back down to truck. Grab them, give dog a drink and up trail again. I'm about 1/3 mile up and I look down at forestry road below. A game warden is driving up. I wave to him and he waves back. Next step I slip on marble rocks and go down. Hit my right knee cap on rock. Get up. Hope he didn't see. Lots of pines thought maybe not. I said to myself, self, this morning is sucking. I'm going back to truck and road hunt and glass all the way back down North Fork. I went straight down from trial to road. Not a smart idea but dog thought so. I got to truck and loaded up. Almost to hwy and I see Game Warden coming up behind me. I figured I'll pull over and let him check my tags and license. They are always amazed how many elk, Muley, whitetail, bear, wolf , lion, turkey and NO LOPE tags I have. I asked if he saw me fall. He said no are you ok ? I said yes. Glad wasn't my left knee that I'm getting replaced in Jan.. He said probably better you came back down . The guy he talked to at the upper trail head about 1/4 mi. From where I was told him he had just seen a sow griz with two cubs. I told him I don't like hunting alone around here anymore. Too many griz and too many attacks. Gives me the creeps. Always have too look around. Sat. before last helping buddy cut up and pack out his first buck up by Crandell was nerve racking. We took turns looking around. I'm bummed that I didn't take pics of my dog up there. Sorry for long story as usual. I have nothing else to do. My knee cap hurts though. 😉 Congrats to your son Muddy. Your turn ! Come up here and wack some deer I'll stand gaurd while you cut up and I'll help pack out. 👍🏼
Sorry for going off track .

So my son is on a roll! He just killed this guy this morn with bow on same IN farm we hunt. It is a stud! Unique rack, splits, palmations, heavy mass and good spread! Buck dressed out on scale at 190!! Prob over 200 last year before rut cranked up! He called it in with grunt and shot him at 15 yds. Perfect double lung, went 45 yds all total. He set this buck up using his tree saddle and saddle step so this buck never had any idea he was there. Nice to be young, strong, agile, and still able to pull 82# back in this set up. DANG! Will post more later.
