Wood Chucks or Ground Hogs???

Here in N.E. PA. I've heard them called both, the good ole boys call it like it is ground hog and your more aaaa, sophisticated, fellows call them wood chucks. I call them dead when shot with my 45/70 and a 300 grain Sierra H.P. . Nice article, had a few chuckles . Thanks.:D

I like one shot kills where possible and prefer to do all my hunting before I shoot. Elmer Kieth

Growing up in Oklahoma I had never seen one until I went to Aberdeen Proving Grounds as part of my senior trip and saw one. Actually chased it around the Little David mortar just to get a closer look. Have seen a lot more of them in the last decade, see a few a year now. Most people here would not know what it was if they saw it, but call them ground hogs, or ground squirrels if the kids own what it is.
