Why i like my 260 rem so much now that there is no ammo over the 6.5 cm

I had been shooting 260 for many years for work and play. Was always a very accurate caliber and never had an issue outing something down. After I got a 6CM() I thought maybe a 6.5CM would be a good factory ammo gun to have for the girls to hunt with. I have helped quite a few guys out putting together a 6.5cm and had liked how it worked. Well I had all ready re barreled my 260 to 260AI and was getting 1/2 MOA with the first load I tried fireforming. Decided to just barrel the 600 Mohawk to another 260AI instead of the 6.5CM. Again have a load with some old 123amax right out the gate firefroming in the .5MOA range. Also during this time I traded a 243 WSSM for a tikka 260 CTR. Was also planning on getting this in a CM. Well I sure don't regret and am extremely pleased with my 260/260AI decisions! The 260 ammo like stated can be found(ordered some 130s from Sparks). And the 260AI is crazy accurate while fire forming and will Have a similar case speck with more Boom Room than the 6.5CM when AI-ed. I am realizing some of the old tried and true designs I have shot all my life (300WM, 284win, 260 Rem, .22-250) are still really hard to beat.

Sometimes there really isn't anything new under the sun. I've found that the "old stuff" works great with new bullets and powder. I've been extremely pleased with my 260 AI in the factory Arisaka action and barrel. Crazy fast with the long type 38 barrel.

I chose the 260 rem over the 6.5 years ago because I already had the 308 win and 243 win .I thought a 260 would be better than both of them in many ways and it is .I talked to a young military guy yesturday who had a very nice 6.5 cm new rifle but he couldn't find any ammo and didn't reload .I told him get that rifle rechambered and he would always have plenty of brass .I told him I would help him load some 6.5 cm if he could get the brass .I had about 100 pcs of 6.5 cm so I will load them up for him .I knew when they came out with the 6.5 cm thst brass and ammo would be tough to get .I am the same way with my 264 win mag .I have made all the brass from it from 7 mm rem mag brass .I just started making 338 win mag brass from 7 mm rem mag brass also .It really helps loading for easy to find cases these days .I even do the same with my 338-378 weatherby I make it from 378 and 416 weatherby .There is no telling what is in the future for reloading but these hard to find calibers will disapear quick !good shoot ing and merry Christmas to all the long range shooters !

About a year ago, I was on the fence looking at .260 and 6.5. - Then along came the Bear Creek Arsenal 6.5 CM upper, 24-inch ss heavy barrel and fluted for under $400. The 6.5 CM can use the same magazines and AR lower for the 308 I have. - So, I jumped on that. - Still need to take time to see what it can do. - I bought the ammo when it was $15/box. S&B 140-gr. FMJs. - Bought the Hornady dies, Nosler and Berger bullets too. Then, I bought a 6.5 PRC Mossberg Patriot Predator (Strata) CeraKote finish, and put that in a Boyd's Premium wood laminate stock with Pachmayr Decelerator pad. - Ammo for that WAS $35/box. = Dang the election and pandemic scare.

This quote from the article is a quote from wikipedia. I won't rely on wiki for my ballistics research. In any case I often question the Army's choices of small arms and cartridges.

The 260 Rem can use the same mags for an AR10, or M1A, that you use or the CM.

The 6.5 CM can use the same magazines and AR lower for the 308 I have.

Even though I make fun of the CM there's nothing wrong with it. I just don't believe all the marketing "facts" behind the CM. Even the example they give of the difference between the 308 Win load vs the CM load is dubious. YMMV

I like 6.5mm as I own three different cartridge in that caliber. I like the 308 Win, 30-06 and other cartridges too. All are tools and I like a well stocked toolbox.
