Why I hate my 270 WSM

I started a thread a while back about the 270wsm being uncanny accurate. Like maybe it's not as popular so the build is better. I don't know. One guy said he had one that didn't shoot but I think it's rare. Maybe something to do with the balance of recoil and energy.

I had one, a custom that was a solid half moa rifle. Shooting 140 accubonds it was death on elk. Using 140 Berger HVLD's it was a sub half moa gun. Took marmots out to nearly 800 yards regularly. Sold it to fund another project and still kick myself for it.

I wanted one ever since i watched Cristy Lee Cook kill everything Big enough to Die on TV. Finally found a used one in a Paun Shop and it followed me Home. After reading the Threads on LRH i had it Re-Barreled with a Douglas 26" Stainless 1-8 twist. Still doing Load Development but I expect it will out perform the new 6.8 by a Mile.

I rebarreled my 270 WSM with a 7 1/2 twist Brux barrel and I have a 6.8 Western with a 7 1/2 twist. They both shoot fantastic and about the same. The 6.8 Western needs slightly less powder to achieve the same performance. I am using the 175 Sierra TGK. Shot last week at 1000 yards, with a strong wind. Both had 5 shot 12" groups. Had 5" group with my 6.5 Creedmoor with 142 Sierra. The faster twist barrel is of great advantage.
