Which is most accurate out-of-box?

I'd like to hear your thoughts on a highly accurate out-of-box fine production rifle, with (I won't lie) a little bit of wow factor, chambered in 7mm STW, .300 Win Mag, or .300 RUM. I'd like to stay under $4,500.00. I've been looking at Coopers and Blaser, but am certainly open to other makes.

Would also like to hear your thoughts on suggested calibers / accuracy for long range big game.

Holy Crow! An out-of-box for under $4,500. You should be inundated with responses with that price. I'm partial to my TRG-42 but you left the heavy 338's out of the equation.

get a sling-shot, they are way more economical, and you can even find ammo for it... save the dolares for taxes...lightbulb

Unless you re-load I'd get the win. If you do reload use your savings and buy all three:D ( I have and use all three). Just tell your gal that you are doing the same with rifles as she does with shoes.:)
 
If you are looking for a tactical type long range rig, have one built. If you want something more classically styled, I am a huge fan of the coopers. You can go totally nuts for $4500 and basically have a one of a kind show rifle with a bunch of embellishments. Or you can get some really nice upgrades, throw some nice glass on, and still hit your budget.

I had one built last year in 280AI, french walnut, custom LOP, fluted bolt. I have no buyers remorse. My first set of load development yielded several .35ish groups (3-shot) and the worst was .64. Not a bad place to start!

I'm jealous of your toy budget!

I thought they solved that nasty little problem by forcing him to sell 4-5 years ago. If true, I feel OK in my support of a company that forces their founder out for supporting the "hope and change" of a gun grabber. Word on the street is he ended up being completely bought out.

You ain't lying! I don't understand how person could, but especially the owner of a company that mfg's products that they are trying to ban. That makes about as much sense as wiping before you poop...

I can do the Rand Paul thing, not too sure about Thaddeus Nugent. I know his brother Rick btw and I've been to deer camp with the Nugents. lets just say that Ted is a bit radical, even for me.

I never heard that about Cooper before. I'd like to see a link or reference to that...
 
The interview and resulting uproar was years ago. Interestingly, Cooper said.....

"I don't believe that what's being said about Obama and his policies about guns are accurate. I have had a conversation with the senator … he is a stanch supporter of the right to hunt and the right to bear arms."

I believe at this juncture, Mr. Cooper is eating his words.......

Obama may be a staunch supporter of the right to hunt (which btw, has nothing to do with the second Amendment) but 'the right to bear arms' certainly does. The right to bear arms against a tyranical government to be more to the point.

Obama may support the Second Amendment but a Second Amendment that he has rewritten to encompass his agenda. Nothing less.

I take no issue with a businessman projecting his own views, however, when offering products in an arena such as firearms, any astute businessman never goes against the people who support his livelyhood. Thats just downright stupid.
 
So, anyway. Back to the OP. For $4500 I'd certainly go with a custom made firearm. And if it was my $4500 I'd spend it at GA precision. Just my opinion.
