which caliber ?

OK--- I gotta be the stupid new guy and ask--- what the H is "manbun" ????? Is it something like a manpurse ? :)

I looked at several recrivers- and I may be confusing the quick change bolt face with one of the others. It may have been the one with the pivoting bolt handle.

I was going to get a bare receiver--- so I can get any twist that I can find in 6.5. The hornady Techs said on their video that 1:8 should do any 6.5 mm bullet including the very heaviest.

Wow--- got the Arken ep-5 5-25x56 today in the mail. Holy smoke-- this thing is a work of art !
it should work great on the 6.5 later on. I may try it on the 223 BRN 180 for now---- or on the savage HB 10 in 308.
Its prob. the best scope I will ever own ! Looks GREAT.
Manbun = trendy

If you are looking to buy an action you should be good. I don't see where they are selling the bolt heads, so they all come with the action? I shoot a PRC with a 1:7.5 and had gone to order bullets from Cutting Edge and some of their bullets require a 1:7. For your barrel if you order a pre-fit then you have options proof research, preferred, most any gunsmith, and watch the classified section on here for Zermatt barrels

It really means Tactical Weapons Assualt Team... knot😲 well, that's what the LEO guys I know call them when they see them, yes there's a double meaning... some folks call them Manbuns depending on the caliber and weapon you take on the hunt. 🤔
They have also been called Phony Tail because of gender misunderstanding of the wearer. I call them Dome Bones because of how stupid they look, any present parties are excluded, if you don't want hair hanging just cut it. 😂 There you have it a hip pocket spin up on the Knots! Just my 0.2 Cheers

Mike---- I agree--- I think there are any number of old and new cartridges as good as the creed. Just that these days
brass for some of them is harder to find now that the brass MFG's are balls to the wall just producing a few of the most popular cases. Midway does not even have 243, 270 win
or 6.5 prc at the moment. Might as well get something thats available and has plentiful brass. not 2$ a round brass if I can help it. it couild eventually be the bigger brother to 5.56 in some ways. A 3 bears cartridge. Not too big- not too small. Like 30-30 was 40 years ago. (and still is prob.)
Jack of many trades- master of none. The "masters" are out on the tails of the distribution of coarse---for the more committed brethren. :) Pretty sure if I had a manbun---
the doctor wouldda mentioned it----
I dont think I have a dog in the fight----
I get it, it's the easy button.

Downrange energy/velocity isn't a big deal if your are primarily shooting paper and steel but live animals it matters a lot.

AFAIC ---- the manbun is a public declaration of your
fealty to estrogen-rich certified dupe status as a soy loving
electric car vegetarian AOC automaton. Not true in EVERY case--- but when you see it---- its safe to make assumptions.

I am safe because I have a 45-70 and I enjoy it
and I have never had or wanted long hair. if it gets too long my BDU hat doesn't fit and its generally a PITA.

I would guess--- the True wild Manbun--- doesnt like any gun and is an antigunner on pure socialist principle.

I knew a legitimate Manbun in college - and he was all that and more.
son of a doctor and from Seattle. You can just imagine....
A socialist bleeding heart who shortly after college made millions putting factories in China paying the workers 50 cents a day. no hypocrisy there --- right ?

I am just starting to consider building a longer range gun---may 600
to 1000 for plinking and maybe coyote. Thinking of a Precision aero
receiver (bolt action) as I like its features and its reasonably priced.
Thinking of a long but fat fluted barrel (all steel) maybe 26-28 with
maybe a sound mitigation device (they work well)

I shoot 308 and 223 mostly. I think I need a higher BC than 308 will give me. I am tinkering with 60 gr V-max in 223 but I know that will be weak past 600. I am leaning towards something in 6mm or 6.5 or 7mm. I think I like 6.6 PRC but I dont like the brass prices. Like a little umph that 6.5 creed. there is 243Win, 7mm-08, 260rem and 280 rem, there is 270 win. Like to have something I can get inexpensive new brass for --- and something that will take the long, high BC bullets. Like to keep the reciol down to 308 win levels or less. Dont want a barrel burner either.

and considering the "Old" calibers--- can I just have my barrel
cut with a longer leade to accommodate the newer High BC bullets ? or it there more to it than that. ( I'd like it to be box magazine fed too- BTW) Would that mean going to a medium action and mag so my longer OAL will fit into a magazine ?

Im sure many of you have asked these same questions----
Thanks ahead of time for your thoughts.....
Tim
fast twist 7mm rem mag and launch 180+ vld's

coldfinger---
that would be a stout little puppy---- like a younger brother to 300winmag. I dont think I need that much juice---
I think 270 should be good that way too---- might take some tinkering with throats and magazines-----

I would say "plan" is too strong a word. It looks nice.
but it may be 6 months yet before I am ready. Might see something else I like better as I study details more. I like the looks of it better than the pivoting bolt handle one. I think that's the one that has tool-less bolt head interchangeability. but its kind of ugly shaped though.
if that matters any--- I will continue to read and study
the details. Not in a hurry----
