Which .25?

I run the
25 creed
25-06 rem
25-06 AI
I believe they all have strong points the creed for light recoil the standard 25-06 for finding ammo on the shelf and the 25-06AI for a touch more speed and almost no case stretching I have shot whitetail mule deer elk bighorn sheep and coyotes all with the 25 caliber bullets and haven't had any issues I think they are all great rounds especially with heavy bullets and fast twist barrels I believe you can't go wrong with any of them just choose the one that fits your needs and build it then build the next one and the next one and the next one😁
I like the way you think, if I could just get the banker to agree with us.

If you want a mild recoiling rifle you couldn't go wrong with the old 257 Roberts. the 25-284 will give you a bit more velocity but at the expense of more powder and recoil.

So I am leaning towards the 25/06 AI or the Bee just because I like speed. What I did with my 6mm AI was I bought a new Bergara chambered in 270 and went from there. I wasn't trying to save weight or build anything extravagant so it worked well for me. What would it cost me to buy a custom action and go from there? I used the Bergara stock and all on the 6mm. I don't want to be buried in this rifle but what would everyone do if they were trying to build a somewhat lightweight rifle without breaking the bank? Action, stock, barrel etc. I used a #5 Brux for the 6mm and wouldn't do that again for a carry rifle. It's a shooter but heavier than I want on this one.

If you were building a new rifle in 25 caliber for hunting and occasional target shooting, which one would it be and why? I'm in western NC so extreme ranges aren't likely but I would like to have the option to shoot the longer heavier bullets but probably would not purpose build it for one particular bullet. I like speed so I am thinking 100-115 grain bullets for the most part but I am open to any and all suggestions. Thanks!
.243 1/8 107 VLD.

Then .257 WBY is the way to go. Set up and realistic budget and go from there. Light and cheap do not go hand in hand. For instance, my Anti-X action was $1500, and one of the lightest chassis is near $1600; a blank carbon barrel will run you around $800.

Wow. Might have to go the same route as my last then. I will go with a slimmer profile barrel and hope for the best.

That is why I ask for a realistic budget. What is a realistic weight on a carry rifle? You must find the best compromise between your budget and your rifle set-up goal. For instance, on .257 WBY budget build; Savage LA Magnum = $300, Oryx chassis = $400, McGowen prefit/threaded for MB = $395. You can build it for under $1K depending on your choices of components.

Hands down, .257 Wby Mag with 26" plus tube. My wild-cat pick would the .25-240 Wby Mag I just like the looks.
