Where Are The Coyotes?

Not saying there are none, but I personal have a little over 120 acres 6 miles west of Sonora Tx . Owned it for 4 years never heard, seen, or even have trail cam shots of even one.

And only two shots of bobcats, (1) in two separate years. But then again in that time not even one hog either.
It's been a bit dry out there hasn't it? And, there are "a few" high fence ranches out there and they don't tolerate bobcats or coyotes.

I grew up in Georgia and moved to Colorado 25 years ago. I never saw a coyote in Georgia unless the little grey fox I saw was a coyote. They are everywhere here in Colorado. That list shows Georgia with a higher population.

Maybe moving back home wouldn't be as bad as I thought since there's more coyotes to hunt? LOL

Seriously…there is a wildlife management coyote counting method…whereby they count the number of footprints in a sized circle with a scent lure at the center….divide by 4 x the number of counting sites minus the "overlap" formula and ……viola….le coyote census…

minus the number that fall to the twitch of my right hand Nevadan index finger.
I second that! Seems like the coyotes in Nevada are on steroids. Maybe they morphed from all that nuclear testing in the 40's and 50's!

We got em bad. Couple packs. One in particular stays close. You dump a deer carcass at night next morning the buzzards are cussing it's picked so clean. We need to start shooting trapping or something. Camera surveys show less fawns than normal. They can have a serious impact on fawn survival.
