Whats your favorite RUM?

I still have it. It's been opened up for a larger diameter barrel and has pillars installed.

I am running a 338 RUM. Feel like it is the most balanced of the RUMs. Though the 300 with heavy bullets would be a good choice as well.

I've owned the 7mm, 300, and 338 RUMs. All factory Remington sporter 700s. The 7mm was one of the most accurate rifles I've ever owned. Under half inch at 100 yards with boring regularity with the 150 gr BT. The 338 was not far behind, averaging half inch or less with the 225 gr AB. Both were like Thor's hammer on deer, and one bull elk with the 338. The 300 was the least accurate, averaging an inch at 100 yards with the 200 gr AB at 3200 fps. No brake on that one, and it kicked like a mule. It trashed a Leupold Vari x III in short order. But I did smoke an elk with it at 589 yards from an awkward rest, giving me a nice scope cut in the process. If I ever bought another one, it would be the 338. It essentially duplicates the old 338-378 Keith Thompson, which is pretty cool.

I started off with 4 factory Rums in 7, 300, 338 and 375.
Then I got into Long Range. I had a 7, 300, and a 338 built with light palma 29 inch Benchmark barrels. They all shot awesome. Then one day I asked myself, why did I build such heavy rifles? So I had to build lighter ones. I went with 27 1/2 inch Brux barrels on the 7, 300 and 338 with a 4.5 contour, fluted. .685 at the muzzle. They shoot just as good as the light palmas. I have another Brux barrel on order for a Rum

I have all 4 plus a 358 custom that is my favourit, I think because it's better built then a factory 700.

300 Rum gets my vote...altered to feed 4.020" cartridges out of the mag...braked 26" barrel 250 Atips 2985 fps...

I'm pref the dark variety with Goslings hard to beat for the $. Don't ever take a big swig of Charlie's overproofed rum. A few years ago I picked up a used 300 SA at a popular local GS. The previous owner did some nice tuning on it. Shoots great. Would like to be able to find more Norma brass for it or talk Peterson's into a run.

375 RUM... I believe it is what the 375 H&H wanted to be. Balanced the most efficient of the.RUMs it hits like an absolute freight train, and has really good legs long distance. I have taken animals as big as cape buffalo and Eland and a small Steinbok. And taking shots with mine as far as 400 yards this close as 15 yards.

I rebarreled a Savage 116 to a 338 RUM with a McGowen Sendero contour, spiral fluted barrel. I put it in a Bell and Carlson M40 stock with a Beast CF 6 port brake. A 5 year old was able to shoot it and it was the most accurate rifle I've owned to date. I sold it a couple years ago and regret it all the time. It was like holding the right hand of God in my hands. There's something about hunting with a rifle you know can kill anything in North America better than graveyard dead

338's seem to be pretty scarce -- its obvious that the 300s are the most popular
