What's your 6.5 PRC go to powder

Th
That's some nice velocities. I burn n570 in a 6.5 Gap & 7mm stw, so I have no doubts about your velocities. The dessert tech really impresses me. I like long barrels. It seems like the perfect platform to run a 30-31" barrel and still end up being close in overall length to a standard bolt action with a 26" barrel.
Yes, the N570 has worked great for me, my problem is that I only had 2 lbs when I started load development. Then I found it worked just as good in my 338 Lapua. I can literally fill both cases with it and get great velocity and real decent accuracy. The Desert Tech is my favorite rifle and has most of the design feature I want. It is great for running long barrels and keeping it relatively short. The overall length with my 31" including the brake is only 44" but the best thing is the 5" long barrel clamping system, it's like a benchrest barrel block. That makes a much stiffer barrel mount than only an inch of threads like most rifles, so it can support the extra length much better.

Can a desert tech only be purchased new from desert tech themselves or is there other avenues to getting what would be needed to assemble one?

Not to be a PRC hater but are these loads compressed? All most all the load data that I ran across on the Hudgens web site shows a bunch of compressed loads. Was this a bad design on Hornady's part? It seem to be a really good round but I thought you don't really wont to be in a compressed load to achieve speed. It just seem that the cartridge's has a very low efficiency design if it has to be ran compressed to do something its not.
Actually, it is a very efficient design for its intended purpose, that being PRS matches where the rules limit you to .30 caliber or less and 3,200 fps maximum muzzle velocity. Supposedly it is about maximum capacity and velocity for "reasonable" barrel life too. That said, compressed loads, at least filling the case without overly compacting the charge is a very good thing for consistency.

They are available like any other rifle, check the normal auction sites and dealers, people do sell them fairly regularly. You can buy barrels, bolts and magazines, new and used too. There are several places like Short Action Customs that specialize in barrels chambered in just about any caliber you may want.

With all the shortages, I've only been able to obtain US869, Ramshot LRT and Accurate Magnum. Has anyone tried this powder for 6.5 PRC? I'll be shooting 142 grn ABLRs.
Ideally I'd like to use H1000 or Reloder but am planning on trying what I have to see how it groups.

I haven't used LRT but I've talked to several people who ran out of Retumbo that swears by it. The attachment shows starting load for a 6.5-284 with LRT & a 140gr being around 58-59 gr. Depending on which 140 gr. With the 6.5 prc being nearly the same capacity as the 6.5 284, I would say those starting load values would be a safe starting point for you with a 142gr bullet.

Which manual is that? I have them all, just want to bookmark it. Thanks!
