Yeah, the "ring" you have to really worry about with a belted mag is a little bit higher up on the case head.

Here's a picture of one of my 7mm STW brass that had a case head seperation from the brass being shot so many times it wore out.

That one cracked 3/4 of the way around, and you could see sunlight inside of it. LOL

I got lucky it didn't completely seperate in the chamber...That would have been a crappy day.
