What is the best money you have spent on the shooting sport and why?

No not lately, and when you mentioned Okra that brought back such delicious memories of my Great Grandmothers delicious meals! She would get her feelings hurt if you didn't eat All that she prepared🤪 "Gramuh I just ate that whole chicken and the pot of Okra there's no room to eat that sweet taiter pie" 😅
Thanks for mentioning that, wonderful memories!

Going way out on a limb here……your Great Grandmother wasn't cooking those meals in Washington! 🤔 Maybe a "wee bit" farther south! 😉 memtb

My best money I spent was getting firearms training at the local junior college in, of all places, So Cal. The college had a police academy which is where I got a good amount of training. That set the fundamentals of my firearms experience which was augmented with a stint in the Army.

For those who pick firearms instructors I pick mine much like I picked martial arts instructors. Call me old fashioned but I generally tend to pick slow talking, slow walking types that have been there done that to some extent. One who talk big and feed on emotions like fear and anger I tend to stay away from. Those who teach respect I tend to research to see there standing and experience. Just my two cents from the peanut gallery.

Ammo components, lots and lots of ammo components.

My first lrh rig was pretty sad by today's standards. Second focal plane scope within abysmal Zoom range and mixed mil and MOA turrets and reticles. The barrel didn't have the best twist for the heavies so I ended up shooting a moderate bullet in both weight and ballistic coefficient. I think my last prefit cost more than the entire setup cost me back in early 2005...

I could be to several places that will allow me to shoot to 800 yards 20 minutes from my house, sps 165s were 9.95 and bi mart had sub 20$ a pound 4350. Had a reloading setup instead of a coffee table in my small living room, and shot 50 to 100 rounds a week. My turrets weren't repeatable across the entire range of the turret, they weren't exactly the sleekest bullets in existence. But I had so much Trigger Time compressed into a short period of time I knew exactly where that bullet was going. Had so many stinking reps of that Bolt in that first year I owned it all the varmints within 100 miles weren't safe.

My new guns are infinitely nicer but the job that pays for them keeps me so busy I can't shoot 4 days a week let alone have the time to reload 50 to 100 rounds every week. Maybe the tech helps offset it maybe it doesn't, but it'd be wonderful to have 20-year-old eyes and the freedom to shoot 2,000 rounds a year of high power Centerfire....

Idaho is becoming infected as well! We seem to be doing OK…..for now. But, you can see the change on the horizon! 🤬 memtb
Yep, Woke liberals with money, are far more dangerous than a child playing with a loaded " Ma Deuce " and they have just about as much common sense. Just my 0.2 from being around them. Cheers.
