You sound like my ranch owners friends.............."just gut shoot them so they run off and have a slow miserable death"!! The destruction they cause is unbelievableThat would be fine with me, hope every one of the sobs dies a grisly death
Some overly, wishful, velocities, even out of a 24" barrel! The 6.5 Grendel just doesn't have powder capacity to attain those speeds, with a 6.5mm bullet.Looking to buy some bulk 6.5 Grendel ammo mainly for hogs. I am looking at various online buys. I have found a couple of interest. I know there is more but for now I am looking at Fed Premium Varmint/Predator 90 grain TNT Jacket HP (3000FPS on the box) and Nosler Match Grade 90 gr Flat Base Tipped Brass Varmageddon (2800fps, this one shows to be for target) I am mentioning these as the price is around $380 for 500 rounds. Anyone have any experience on either or any other suggestions? Thanks, Alan
What? Here is what QL spit out for a Speer 90gr, 24" barrel and an AR bolt limiting 52000psi, and NON-compressed loads. I blocked out actual charges. Some overly, wishful, velocities, even out of a 24" barrel! The 6.5 Grendel just doesn't have powder capacity to attain those speeds, with a 6.5mm bullet.
6mm yes for sure!
I have a 20" 6.5 Grendel. Worked with it for solid 12 months, with 90-130 grain bullets, most of the "recommended powders" and the powders that weren't on any list, primers also and in the end, it was still only a 650 yard max range cartridge, at my Colorado high plains atmospherics, just fell flat on it's face! I'm waiting on a 6mmARC barrel, only because, I didn't want to go through the expense of a custom 6mmAR barrel. What? The fact that you DO think the same parent case CAN do it with a smaller diameter is just well...
Varmint probably isn't tough enough, but not 1 single thing wrong with fmj! I've been killing pigs for 44 years with fmj and 90% have been 55gr.Its crazy to see the WILDLY varying bullet choices that people consider deadly for hogs in this thread. Varmint tnt's fmj's partitions etc. You couldnt get any wider range.
Never seen such nonchalance from hunters on this forum before.
If you need some help eradicating them, just let me know! That would be fine with me, hope every one of the sobs dies a grisly death
