I thought you were asking about 7mms? There are a few 30 calibers that would do some work for you.Never thought I would have this much trouble deciding on a caliber lol

Oh that's right I did read that. With that action 7 mag or 7-300 make sense to me. I don't know how much barrel life a 28 Nosler really has. I only have 75 down the tube on mine so not enough to know anything yet.Yes I did mean cartridge . A 280 ai was what I was first thinking. But my action is a rum action so gunsmith said I would have to go with something different.

I think you are right.. A lot of awesome cartridges out there. But they all come with a price lolI hear ya. I've been going down the same road wanting to build a magnum 30. After looking at everything of interest and practicality I went with the tried and true 300wm.
There's a reason the 7rm and 300wm have remained popular for so long. They do work and do it with little fuss.
If you have a rum action and want to run bdl floorplate and a non-center feed box, you'll have to use a case based off the 404 Jeffery, as you can't put more metal back on the feed lips. If you run a wyatt's center feed box, can run something off the h&h case. Jeffrey parent has the 28nos, wsm, blaser, saum, Sherman shorts. H&h Would be your belted mag cases, 7mm stw, 300win, 7RM etc.Yes I did mean cartridge . A 280 ai was what I was first thinking. That was the question I asked the gun smith. He said as long as I could put 7 mag rounds in my mag and they stay in it with out poping out it would work.If you have a rum action and want to run bdl floorplate and a non-center feed box, you'll have to use a case based off the 404 Jeffery, as you can't put more metal back on the feed lips. I have a RUM action and initially went with a 28 Nos, it's a bad *** round but I shoot alot and wanted to go less overbore so I re-barreled to 7-300 WSM.Yes I did mean cartridge . 7mm STW. No wildcatting, and you're not stuck with single source brass and loaded ammo.Getting ready to have a rifle built. Was set on a 7mag. My Gun smith is really pushing a 28 nosler. So that got me thinking and looking. The 28 looks awesome. But the price of brass and availability and and barrel life has me thinking I don't really no if I need that. But the 7 lrm and 7-300 stuck my eye as well. I am thinking the lrm might be a in the middle of the 7 mag and the 28. What's everyone's thoughts on theses calibers. Thanks.
No.Is the extra cost of the 7LRM worth the gain over the 7 mag ?
With the right follower they should feed fine. At worst you need to switch to a DBM.That was the question I asked the gun smith. He said as long as I could put 7 mag rounds in my mag and they stay in it with out poping out it would work.
Nice shooting. I am kinda thinking about a 28 still. Just because it's gonna be hunting rifle. If I could get 800 rds out of it it would last me a good whileI have a RUM action and initially went with a 28 Nos, it's a bad --- round but I shoot alot and wanted to go less overbore so I re-barreled to 7-300 WSM.
I neck up Winchester 270 WSM brass and shoot, I'm getting 3000 FPS with 180's in a 26" barrel throated to 3.115" OAL.
I've owned a custom 7RM, and the 7-300 WSM is by far the easiest to load for, and is much more accurate in my experience. I just shot a 2" group at 840 yards with it.
If you don't want to wildcat I would suggest 7 WSM or 28 Nos, since you're building a custom don't get hung up on super available 7 rm brass..
ADG is making WSM brass in the future and 28 Nos will be out next month
Do it right and ditch the Retarded belted cases...
Here's my last 840 yard group with the 7-300 WSM
