1:7" or faster (1:6"/6.5") for me, and propel Berger 90. I, too, am contemplating building a .22 cal LRH rig out of R700 LA .473" action. But still undecided on chambering.I want to launch 77-88 grain bullets out of either a GT or creed. Would you guys go 7 or 8 twist?
I really appreciate everyones responses !! The reason for the 9 twist is because I am only looking to shoot 55gr v-max and 75 gr hpbt in this build. Mostly because I have a bunch of 75 hpbt bullets.
I'm thinking 80-88 eldm or 77 tmk. Probably should error on the faster side and go 7 twist, but if I want 8 twist the factory tikka 22-250 is an option. Darn don't want to thread that light barrel for my suppressor, so back to custom. So many choices! I probably better get a barrel and bolt face coming anyway.1:7" or faster (1:6"/6.5") for me, and propel Berger 90. I, too, am contemplating building a .22 cal LRH rig out of R700 LA .473" action. I know exactly what you mean Tom. I built the 223 Bolt for kids to learn on and they Hammer gongs up to 500y with it. Over 3k of 75 hpbt Molly and it still will put 10 in a dime at 100y. Great confidence builder for the kiddos.Im running a plain Jane .223 Rem using 75 hpbt's in an 8" twist.
It's just so much fun it's stupid.
Waiting for my suppressor it will be even more better funner…
Yep! My .257 WBY is also 1:7" twist.I'm thinking 80-88 eldm or 77 tmk. Probably should error on the faster side and go 7 twist, but if I want 8 twist the factory tikka 22-250 is an option. I remember when I was happy killing everything with my .257 weatherby and game kings….I hate you guys!
