Wanting some opinions

Is this a hunting rifle, if so, consider a Proof carbon barrel. They really do save weight.

I like the Larue QD Harris bi pod. My Atlas has deployment options with the legs but I dont think its worth the money.

I'll use it for some hunting. I'm sure I won't want to pack it up and down mountains but I have other rifles to fill that spot if needed. Plus after this one I have my eye on a custom light weight hunting rifle. My wife just doesn't know about it yet lol

Yeah I agree on the patience part. I'm comfortable taking 300 yard shots now. Bit quite a bit changes at 4-500. So trying to learn the technical aspects of it like dialing for elevation, etc.
I've considered used but then it comes back that one, I don't know how the previous owner treated their guns and two, if I'm spending that much money might as well spend a little bit more and get exactly what I want. I'm sure you can get good deals, I've just always been to nervous to actually try it

I'll second or third the Nightforce SHV. I have the 4-14 MOAR reticle. Tracking is perfect and looked much better than the Leopold vx3i to my eye. I have not had a chance to look through the vx5hd but I hear the glass is great.
Edit: I'll add Burris xtr rings are great also

Yeah I've made my mind up on a nightforce. Now it's either the 4-14x56 or the 4-14x50 f1. Trying to decide if the extra 250 is worth ffp and exposed elevation turrets. For rings I was looking at tps, seekins, or nightforce.

I owned a 4-14x56 when they first come out on a AR. I traded it for the F1 model with exposed elevation turrets. For me, it has been money well spent.

I went with the sfp. Reason being is I don't like ffp if you have the possibility of using it up close in deep woods (which some of my shots might be) if the reticle is sized so it's small enough at full power. Either that or it's sized way too big for any long range precision. Also if you are doing something long range with a 14x scope you are more than likely going to have it at 14x so the MOA markings will read true.

Yeah the exposed elevation turrets is what keeps taking me back to the f1. The whole point of this rifle was to learn the long range side and learn to dial ranges vs holdovers. I don't have any real range time with a ffp either, so I'm hoping I like that as well. Seems to be one less thing to worry about though. Of the three rings I listed any that you'd recommend or stay away from? From the looks of it any of those would work, just comes down to price and preference. Thanks

Thanks for heads up on that. No where has had the f1 in stock for me to look through. Regardless of what I think I want I'm waiting til I pick to rifle up to decide. The shop I went through carries nightforce and have both shv models in stock, usually at least. So I'm hoping to do a side by side comparison there to make a final decision.

All you have to do is take the cap off the covered turret and leave it off. The scope still retains all of it's waterproof goodness. I leave mine on but take it off at the range. It takes all of a second to remove it.

I've considered that as well. There's too many choices lol. That's the main reason I want to compare them side by side.

I would really give the Burris XTR Signature rings another look. They eliminate the need to lap your rings, keep perfect alignment and protect the scope by preventing any scope rings, and if you have a factory action and the screw holes aren't perfectly aligned, you can use the inserts to bore sight as well as add MOA so you can keep your windage close the the center of its adjustment and get the most/clearest adjustment out of your scope. You can use the inserts also to get the absolute most out of your adjustment range, and fine tune to within about 5 MOA of exactly where you want to be in your adjustment range. They are an awesome product.
