Hello ,
Several years ago I gave a friend a Herters Mannlicher walnut stock with some exceptional grain. My friend had a Siamese Mauser action and intended on building a stalking rifle in 40-65 caliber. This seemed intriguing to me, and that'[s the reason I turned the stock over to him. I extracted a promise that when the rifle was complete I would get images that showed the wood grain of the finished stock.,
The rifle was built and sold almost immediately ,and I never got any images of the completed rifle. The new owner never got to use the weapon, and died. His wife, who was incensed by the price paid for the rifle, sent it to relatives on the east coast.
After exhaustive attempts to discover more information, against resistance, now the wife has died.
So, I am looking for a needle in a haystack with a single exception. How many. Mannlicher, Siamese Mauser's in 40-65 can there be out there? It's the caliber the gives me some hope in potentially locating this weapon and obtaining some images of it, at long last.
I know the readers of this site are pretty advanced, and seem to have a lot of local knowledge about unusual firearms. This rifle should be unique enough that the weapon would seemingly stand out in anyones' collection.
I am hoping after decades that my efforts will bear some fruit.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
