joseph,
I agree with you I could not shoot any better with a 3,000 dollar scope than I do with my vortex.
I had a Tasco Super Sniper (when they were made by tasco) on a 308. It was the fixed 10 power with side paralax adjustment.
That scope and rifel were a deadly combinatoin. I was able to hit milk jugs at 500 yards. With ten power that is as far as I wanted to try hitting milk jugs on the flat lake bed I was in. The jugs were very small in the scope. I miss that gun and scope I would have no reservatoins about getting another one if I ever get a 308 again.
Today at the Range:
It was nice to have the EBR-1 ret I was able to measure other shooters groups from zero for the other shooters and help make the sight in process faster. Did not have as much time as I would have liked and was not able to do every thing i wanted. I got it zeroed for 200 yards and the ret leveled.
My buddy now wants this same scope for his 308 he just got, and the other shooter who looked through the PST really liked it. Not long after we arrived my gun smith who built the gun arrived to do some shooting too. It was the first day in many many many many weeks that it was able to take my jacket off while setting up. Just one very fine day indeed.
Can't wait to get this set up out past 800 yards. I was shooting 800 last fall and it became boring. I never thought I would be able to say that. This 338 is a shooter. I am EXTREMLY happy with my Brux barrel and will be getting another one when I rebarrel my 300 RUM.
LONG RANGE RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
