I have been hunting all my life (61) years and just been introduced to L.R. Hunting this year. I am from Mississippi where a long shot for deer is usually about 150 yards. I am partner in camp in North east Montana where we have been hunting for about 10 years but limited to birds (ducks, pheasant and sharptails). Last year attempted to get buck tag from lottery but unsuccessful, so some of the group and I purchased some doe tags. Long story short, got a couple of muleys and whitetails. This year put in for deer buck tags and antelope buck tag. Missed the deer tag but got the antelope buck tag. Got with my friend and neighbor (was on Olympic shooting team) and he agreed to assist me. After about 4 unsuccesful stalks, finally found some way out. Stalk of 1/2 mile and crawled about 50 yards, we were in position. I was using his 7mm WST which he build. He adjusted the dial on the scope and told me to hold right on where I wanted it to hit. Dropped him in his tracks, after the shot he told me it 490 yards. I AM HOOKED Took muley does at 216 yard and 265 yards with my 25-06. Now I am really hooked... purchased a Remington 300 Ultra Mag with my friend is going to set up for me. Maybe I can get a deer buck tag next year.
