Thermal imaging is not good for cold objects at high altitude. Then, radar doesn't reflect back very well on the balloon surfaces, just a small payload that might bounce back a weak signal. So, China is exploiting that.Holy !! Another object was just sighted over Canada! Are these appearing out a portal? Or our detection capability P poor? Scary we cannot detect these until "maybe too late"? Launch 1,000 with whatever payload, low tech poof!
They do have it on most aircraft, used to detect wind shear and other things safety related in commercial aviation. No idea if thin parachute type material would bounce back with Dopler.I thought Dopler Radar can detect but I bet not used in military other than weather.
