Lost my life long hunting friend

It is mixed emotions day for me.
My life long hunting buddy and friend passed away 82 in a few short days would have been 83.
His funeral was today. 35+ yrs of memories.
Three years ago was our last hunt in PA and NY.
The many miles to camp and home.
The shared success and going home empty handed.
As I was reading your post I had to think of these verses.

New Living Translation
The Hope of the Resurrection
1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
And now, dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died so you will not grieve like people who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with him the believers who have died.
We tell you this directly from the Lord: We who are still living when the Lord returns will not meet him ahead of those who have died. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the believers who have died will rise from their graves. Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever. So encourage each other with these words.

God Bless you Alvin

Alvin I'm dreading that day also. Me and my hunting companion have been hunting together for 30+ years ourselves. I'm sorry to hear of his passing. I know the bond that is shared between two hunting friends.
Rest assured he's scouting new country for you both to hunt together again one day. A hunting land that is beautiful beyond comprehension.

So sorry for your loss. We are only here for a short visit , then we must go home to be with the Lord.
Your buddy will be with you in spirit when you go hunting again.
I find myself talking to my hunting buddies that have passed especially when I am on a tree stand or alone in the woods at daybreak.
Laguna Freak had a good point, Take Refuge in the Lord as there is some real peace there. Your memories of your hunting trips with your buddy are priceless. Those memories and anything you share with him going forward will keep both of you until you meet again someday. Prayers for you, your buddy and his family.

So sorry for your loss.

I lost my best friend and hunting partner of 15 years two years ago. I think about him often and the memories we made.
I wanted to do something for his family so I started writing about our hunting and fishing trips we had made and compiled those stories along with pictures to give his family. Two years later I'm almost ready to give it to them. I found that this has been a way to remember and honor my friend and it has helped me heal from the loss.

I'm very sorry for the loss of your friend. I have a buddy I met in 7th grade and we started hunting rabbits with our BB guns, I killed my first deer with him. We live in different states now so don't get to hunt together anymore but hunting is what brought us together as friends over 50 years ago. Great hunting buddies are hard to find. Just curious what part of PA and NY? My mother was upstate NY and is buried across the line in PA. Again, my condolences for your loss.
Branchport, NY, Tioga and Blair Co PA

I'm sorry for your loss and you have my sympathy! I'm 78 years old but have always tended to hunt alone and know the day is coming for me!
