it depends on the rifle. A heavy bbl 308 vs a ultralight will have vastly different results. everybody knows that the cartridge can perform. the rifle and the shooter are the variables.You can be consistent at 1000 with a .308, I know because I have done it.
So far I looked at three Kimber 84M 308 Win and they all has "sub moa" guarantees from Kimber. I'd say that's good enough to plink out to 1k.it depends on the rifle. Did it with an 8.5 lb 20" .308 shooting the same load at 2475, a little less ballistics, and took a little more concentration to shoot well, but still very doable. I do understand your point though, heavy guns are easier to shoot, no denying that, but that certainly doesn't mean it's impossible.it depends on the rifle.
