Upgrading stock

Rifle season has concluded. I wanted to up grade my stock without completely depleting the bank. I m look at a few stocks and wanted to get some input. Its a 6.5 CM Rem 700 clone. This is for 100% deer hunting. I want to extend my ethical range.

1. KRG Bravo
2.Magpul Hunter
3. MDT field stcok
4. MDT XRS

I'm also prowling on the classifieds thread.

Got the field stock on sale. Added a Salomon river arca rail. It is impressive for the money, ie cheap. Would definitely do another .

Been thinking of replacing one of my stocks for a chassie stock but not sure if I would like it.
Hate to put down money just to take it off. Still on the fence
I was the same way. $300 to as much as $1200 for a drop in aluminum chassis isn't small change for me and was pretty hesitant. Personally, I'm glad I did the MDT. It's comfortable enough I can bang out all afternoon and not feel like my shoulder got kicked by a mule. Screw on the can and it's even better.
I know a couple PRS shooters and they rave about the MDT ESS stock. Just a big chunk of change to buy it. Find your grip and find your AR style stock of choice and off you go. The XRS is what I bought. It uses spacers in the butt which is a little inconvenient for someone used to the rapid deployment of ARs, but let's be honest. Once you set it, you're not changing it anyway, so it's good and solid.
My 10T weighs quite a bit on its own, so this didn't help that, but it was never a stalking rifle to begin with since it's a 24" BBL.

I have a Magpul on my 30/06 and though I like how it's changed the recoil. I do not like how loud it is if something smacks it. I had a hogue on it before and it was okay but the angle of recoil was no good for heavier bullets.
On my 300 mag I stuck an oryx and it's pretty awesome. It is a chassis though.

I am what's called a stock crawler which means when shooting prone the sight is going to be way closer to my eye than standing or sitting so I used extended mounts or made my own so on my hunting rifles the scope would be far enough away from my eye when prone but this caused the scope to be too far away when standing so now I have decided to have an adjustable length of pull stock which allows me to shoot in a relaxed natural position whether I am standing or prone so a person should try his rifle in field positions and see if he is configured like some of us are and could benefit from an adjustable length of pull. Also to shoot well in field positions having your head supported by the comb is very important, factory stocks don't have a high enough comb for todays popular scopes, they are left over styles from the days of iron sights on the factory rifles where the scope puts your eye at least an inch and probably an inch and a half higher than iron sights did. So its best to have an adjustable cheek piece but at least a high comb to hold your head in the right position called cheek weld. get your rifle off the bench and these things will be more apparent.

I did the same thing a couple years ago. I ended up settling on a Pure Precision (aka Mesa Altitude) and love it. I'd also look at AG Composite.
Best of luck and keep us posted.

You can't go wrong with Either MDT STOCK...they just plain fit!! They fit you, they fit your gun and they look even better too. I believe the Field stock is the best bang for your buck in North America today.

View attachment 641196MDT xrs stock, I really like it for long distance shooting but for hunting other than from a fixed position, it's 4lbs. I believe, not something you want to carry around.
I don't find the XRS any heavier than the Bravo...or even heavy...but look at the Oryx chassis if you want really light.
