Rifle season has concluded. I wanted to up grade my stock without completely depleting the bank. I m look at a few stocks and wanted to get some input. Its a 6.5 CM Rem 700 clone. This is for 100% deer hunting. I want to extend my ethical range.

1. KRG Bravo
2.Magpul Hunter
3. MDT field stcok
4. MDT XRS

I'm also prowling on the classifieds thread.

Recently got a Bravo for my son-
I was impressed.
Was recommended by a guy who's pockets are deep & owns several more than you have listed..

I would buy one if they had them for Bat Actions !!!

Sorry I could help on your decision..

IMG_4819.jpegMDT xrs stock, I really like it for long distance shooting but for hunting other than from a fixed position, it's 4lbs. I believe, not something you want to carry around.

"Tupperware" OEM stocks are utilitarian at best, as is. Stiffening up both the buttstock and forestock with Rockite can help heaps with most of these flimsy stocks. A laminated wood Boyd's "Spike Camp" stock is relatively inexpensive and will make a huge difference in stiffness whilst allowing floating the bbl. Other aftermarket reinforced polymer and metal chassis stocks up the ante in terms of cost, but are better yet. it usually comes down to how much disposable cash one has on hand. I just took a Rem 700 SPS Varmint rifle in .223 and stuck the bbl'd action into a Magpul Pro 700 Lite chassis stock ... ah, SO much better.

Excellent stock! And yes, lots depends on the rifle's use and if it's for spot 'n' stalk, lighter is almost always better than hauling around a bench gun.

Have a krg bravo and IT great. Light to carry around and yet great on the bench. Have try IT Up to 600yrds, esay. Will go to the 1000yrds range as soon as I can but theyr is no dout in my mind.

I have both the Bravo and the XRS and enjoy both. From a bench or PRS type supports either are an improvement. From field positions depends. Several of the Grayboe stocks work well. Weight is also a consideration. If you belong to a range or have friends that do perhaps they would let you get behind a several different stocks to help you make your choice. While I do not own one the MPA chassis they are the most comfortable stock of that type I have been behind "off a bench". We can adapt to most anything but no stock fits everyone.

I'll third that on the MDT. It's an excellent stock but it is certainly weighty. Like you, I wanted something that didn't break the bank and, for me, I didn't want to mess with bedding a laminate. If you're not opposed to it, take the time to do the bedding. You can save quite a bit on the fiscal side.

Side note to my choice, I have a savage 10 and it has the bottom bolt release, so my choices were kind of limited as well. Still…for a $400 rifle (at the time) it will drill dimes repeatedly at my 100 zero. And I get arm day in as well!
