TSS in 28 gauge

Edit to add number of hulls in the bag

Forgot, 1/2" 410 fiber cushion filler in the bottom of the wad, you can use 8mm or 16mm Fiocchi primed hulls, we use the 16mm since they are about .80 cents more per hundred.

Heads up about the Lil Gun load, when it's extremely cold, it's temp sensitive. We've had a few loads not cycle in certain shotguns. I may use mine for Dove and Quail and use the 2028 loads for ducks and geese. No issues with the 5/8oz Alliant 2028 loads

So we are going to switch to these 2028 loads

Last time I used my 28 on decoyed honkers I used Hevi Shot. It pounded the dark geese very well

With TSS being so dense it allows you to use small shot sizes. I find it more useful to think about pellet counts vs shot weights. I like 150 pellets on mallards for example with enough energy to penetrate to whatever range you need. I like 2.5-3 ft lbs of pellet energy at the target for large ducks and snow geese. TSS allows you to shoot pretty small payloads to get the necessary pellet counts. This is one way to save some money.

My buddy and I have shot limits of blues with 12, 20 and 28 gauges. We haven't done it with 410 but are planning to try when we get the right conditions.

For those who shoot 28 gauge lead for pheasants or sharp tail grouse. The best load I've ever found is the following.

Fiocchi 28 gauge 2 3/4" Hull
Winchester 209
30 grains H110
Ballistics products HV28 wad
7/8 oz lead #5

I'll bet that's a good one, should really powder them!

This guy has some amazing TSS information in his videos. This looks like it could be the Mac Daddy of all 28ga non-toxic loads. It's a 1-1/8oz Duplex of TSS with Bismuth. Fantastic patterns and killing power. Bullet225ho on YouTube. He develops and has loads pressure tested. Load data can be purchased on his website https://bullet225ho.com/

Check out the video about his new load here...
