1.) 22lr- everyone has to have minimum 1.. More likely 2 or 3
2.) 17hmr- little bit longer range, and larger pests
3.) 204 Ruger- coyotes, Bobcats varmint
4.) 260. Rem- plinking, coyotes right up too black bear
5.) 30-30- another mandatory caliber
6.) 300. Win mag- long range, big game
7.) 338. Lapua big game
8.) 375 h&h
9.) 20 gauge savage 220f slug gun
10.) 12 gauge semi with interchangeable chokes

These were my choices the only 2 I don't have the 06 and 375 but they have to be there. As for my favorite its the 300Wby gets the most use of them all. Number 2 the 280 just a nice gun to shoot and it killed my biggest Mule Deer.

My top 10 are 3 !!!

22 rim fire for general plingking.
30-06 to gett'er done.
12 gauge to harvest the feathers.

Had hundreds of firearms back in the days for game harvest and plingking, but time come to thin out the clutter as the Odd-6 has become my best friend, Ha.

Less is More idea gives me a chance too do other things now.
Less clutter lets me travel the Americas with out thinking about what too take here or there.

Normal trips in distance the 06 is travel partner, more local stuff means that 1 of the other 2 join in.

my favorites are ,6mm remington for varmints,30-06 for steel and long range yotes,and the 7mm rem mag for really long range steel and big game.

Boy ,10 is alot of choices.I do better with less.Anyways the .22 rimfire,220 swift,the 6mm rem,the 25/06,270 win,30/06,and the .375 H&H rounds it out for me.This includes none of the new ,the short/fats or the old slows.The 25/27 and the .30/06 are my favorites and I never tire of them for deer,elk and sheep and although it is a little large that .375 is a beauty.

I reload so I actually try to keep most of my rifle cartridges to similar calibers so I can test/use bullets I buy for multiple rifles. All of us who reload know that just because you want your rifle to shoot a particular bullet from a particular manufacturer, that doesn't mean that your rifle will prefer that bullet at all. And that's alright with me in my method, because chances are I'll have a different rifle that may like that bullet.

I try to keep most of my rifles to:
22 caliber
6.5 caliber
30 caliber
45 caliber (450 Bushmaster and 460S&W Magnum rifle)

A 270 Win worked its way into my arsenal also. But I really stock up on various bullets in the calibers mentioned above. I can pretty much hunt anything and/or shoot at any reasonable distances. I recently purchased a 7mm-08 rifle on a good deal and I did like the rifle. However I sold it because I honestly like my method of only stocking up on bullets for 4 different calibers. (This is absolutely not saying that I only shoot 4 different cartridges. Quite the opposite actually.)

6mm rem because it is not a .243 win
25/06 because it is phenominal to shoot-even elk
.270 win because I have taken everything with it except a brown bear -yet(I have 3)
.280 Ross,a good old chambering and not .284
30/06, we'll what can you say?
.35 Whelen,a bigger version of the /06
.375 H&H,awesome chambering & not short and fat
.444 marlin, fast twist, saddlegun ..my guide gun
